Beware of Oxy-Shopping

Catchy little phrase, isn't it? Don't steal it! I read a great article in Newsweek regarding a study of the difference between "spenders" and "savers". Spenders are people who are more likely to buy items on impulse while savers are not as susceptable to impulse buying. Recent research attributes this to prefrontral cortex differences in and the link is oxytocin.
Oxytocin, a naturally occurring hormone may be the deal we're really searching for when we shop on Black Friday. If you tend to be a spender as oppossed to a saver, keep your oxytocin levels in check before shopping or you may be spending money based on your neurology instead of your gift-buying needs.

Deep breathing

And if stress-levels are out of control, shopping needs to wait.
