Yarn - a story

As described in The Oxford English Dictionary, a yarn is a story (usually long and far-fetched). Hall Caine in Humanitarian XI stated, "...without motive a story is not a novel, but only a yarn," 1897.

So...
I went out with my crew on a large sea-worthy vessel, The Yarn Spinner. Without warning we were caught right in the middle of a deadly storm. As I was preparing the life-raft, a 40 foot wave swallowed the boat whole. I watched helplessly as all my maties perished. I floated for months aimlessly with no food or drink until finally my raft ran aground on a rocky shoreline. After I wandered around, I saw sunbathers. Somebody mentioned I had reached the Jersey Shore. Now my tale is all spun.
